Rethymno is one of the most beautiful towns in the island of Crete and one of the best preserved medieval cities in Greece.
The city still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, Venetian harbour and the narrow streets.
It has a combination of the charm from the history, the architecture and a long sandy beach.

Our Experience from the City of Rethymno
While in this city, we decided to explore the waterfront and all streets behind it.
As we walked through the alleys of the old town of Rethymnon, it was evident that many building have preserved the Venetian, Turkish and Ottoman influences.
We strolled to other places of great character which led us to the fortress and also to the Venetian lighthouse. The fortress dominates the city and makes Rethymnon very photogenic.
Our trip to this city ended up at numerous shops for souvenirs with many local products that are available.
You can not miss a visit to this city while in the island of Crete. Another reason for you to add this in to your bucket list!
