Barcelona has a combination of everything that is interesting in a Mediterranean city; A relaxing place, warm temperatures, unbeatable food scene and breathtaking architecture.
As a matter of fact, when we arrived in this city, I had high expectations.
The Park of Montjuïc
The Park of Montjuïc is an amazing view point of Barcelona. Indeed, this was the first area that we explored on our first day of our arrival in the capital of Catalonia.
Montjuïc means a Jewish Mountain. This a prominent hill overlooking the Barcelona and there are so many things to do in this area that we couldn’t miss out on our trip.
The park is easily accessible either by public transport or even by walking. Same as I mentioned about Madrid, Barcelona is a great city to walk and the metros are comfortable, safe and efficient.
Last but not least, the escalators are really handy to get to the park. And while at the top, we had a panoramic view of the city and the port.
From the Park of Montjuïc, not only is the view amazing from up there, but the gardens are also very well kept.
In addition, our visit to the museum offered us really good history lessons of Barcelona. We really enjoyed and also understood much better about the city’s construction and political orientation after this visit.
The Fountain of Montjuïc
This is an absolutely beautiful sight to see. In fact, we visited this area twice; during the day and the night.
During the day, it was lovely to see it and the backdrop of the Museu de Nacional d’Art de Catalunya behind. Definitely, this was a magnificent view.
During the night, there were variety of choreographed shows, in which the lights change color in time to the music, and also in time to the changes in the various effects of the fountains. This was spectaculars and a really fun light show with a great atmosphere.
The magic fountain shows are something that you really can’t miss out on when you are in Barcelona. We are so glad to have been part of it. Another reason for you to add this to your bucket list!
