To begin exploring the city of Paris, we decided to take a boat tour along the River Seine. This is a river that is in the heart of Paris.
Indeed, cruising on a boat to see the romantic city of Paris, is in the most cases on the must do list of the travelers.
Seine River Cruise Experience
The cruise allowed us to take in many of the highlights of the city from the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame, among many others.
During the boat trip, we were also able to see quaysides, bridges, banks and the most beautiful Avenue in Paris.
Paris has 37 bridges. In this one hour boat tour, there is learning about the history behind the different bridges along the River Seine. Just to mention a few of them that I found really fascinating:
The Pont Royal Bridge
This is the third oldest bridge in Paris, after the Pont Neuf and the Pont Marie. It goes over the River Seine by the Louvre museum and it is easily recognizable by the humpback.
The bridge has five elliptical arches and has been classified as one of the historical monuments.
Certainly, the Pont Royal Bridge has great views of the city.
Pont Alexandre III Bridge on River Seine
This Bridge is considered as the most elegant, extravagant and beautiful bridge in Paris. In general, it has the view of the Eiffel tower, Invalides, the Grand Palace and the Paris Wheel.
This bridge has a long history on Russian and French relations. The beauty of the bridge is in golden marvelous sculptures and it is without a doubt, the city’s most opulently decorated bridge.
Probably if I were to create a short list of places the visitor must walk in Paris, that list would include a stroll across this magnificent bridge.
This is the most romantic Bridge in Paris.
Legend has it that if you pass under the bridge for the first time, you have to make a wish, and once you are under the bridge you have to close your eyes and kiss your neighbour, and then your wish will come true.
- There are wide range of rides during the day and at the evenings
- Easily accessible from multiple different metro lines
