To begin exploring Paris, we decided to take a boat tour along River Seine that is in the heart of Paris. Seeing the romantic city of Paris by boat is on the must-do list of most visitors. The cruise allowed us to take in many of the highlights of the city from the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame, among many others. During the boat trip, we were also able to see quaysides, bridges, banks and the most beautiful Avenue in Paris. This helped me to understand the layout of the city.
Paris has 37 bridges. My most memorable experience in this one hour boat tour was learning about the History behind the different bridges along the River Seine. Just to mention a few of them that are really fascinating:
The Pont Royal Bridge
It is the third oldest bridge in Paris, after the Pont Neuf and the Pont Marie. This bridge goes over the River Seine by the Louvre museum and it is easily recognisable by the humpback. The bridge has five elliptical arches and has been classified as one of the historical monuments. It has great views of the city.
Pont Alexandre III Bridge
This Bridge is considered as the most elegant, extravagant and beautiful bridge in Paris and in general with the view of the Eiffel tower, Invalides, The Grand Palace and the Paris Wheel. This bridge has a long history on Russian and French relations. The beauty of the bridge is in golden marvelous sculptures and it is without a doubt the city’s most opulently decorated bridge. Probably if I were to create a short list of places the visitor must walk in Paris, that list would include a stroll across this magnificent bridge.
The Mary Bridge
This is the most romantic Bridge in Paris. Legend has it that if you pass under the bridge for the first time, you have to make a wish, and once you are under the bridge you have to close your eyes and kiss your neighbour, and then your wish will come true.
