Pairi Daiza is a zoo and at the same a botanical garden.
This is a privately owned park and it is located in Brugelette in the province of Hainaut in Wallonie, the French speaking part of Belgium. It’s about one and half hours drive from Brussels.
What to Expect From Pairi Daiza
This is a large animal theme park and a home to over 5,000 animals from all over the world. Indeed, it’s the most visited zoo in Belgium.
The park is divided into several parts which are uniquely themed to different continents around the world, and each themed part displays wild animals that are found in those continents.
The zoo also has “The Dream of Han Wu Di” garden which was opened in 2006. It is the largest Chinese garden in Europe. Since 2014 the garden houses two giant Chinese pandas named; Hao Hao and Xing Hui. They are part of a breeding programs to preserve and protect endangered species.
This park has beautiful architecture from all over the world that gives a feel like you are in another country. Certainly, it is uniquely designed and very rich in content.
The Experience From Pairi Daiza
Pairi Daiza is an ideal family destination. One of the major reason being that there is a sensational playground where children can run around and play safely.
Everything is set up for your child’s enjoyment. These includes the rope bridges, swings, climbing web, tunnels, just to mention but a few.
The Show Session
In the park, there are show sessions to watch the elephants being bathed. These are really special moments to see them more closely.
Dinosaurs In Pairi Daiza
The park has extended it’s boundaries for the visitors by its brand new stars: the several life size dinosaurs.
These are exactly the same as those that made you shrink with fear in the famous film Jurassic Park.
Each of these giants are accompanied by an information board that allow visitors to discover these magnificent creatures from the past.
The highlights of my experience from Pairi Daiza are:
- Watching the seals
- Bathing of the Asian elephants
- The regular walks of the Asian elephants
- Feeding the giraffes
Is Pairi Daiza Great For A Day Trip?
During the holidays is when we want to treat ourselves with a special experience.
Having fun is definitely one of the main ingredients of the unforgettable memories. For this reason, if you love animals and looking for a fun day trip that is close to Brussels, this is a park that you can visit.
I would highly recommend this park.
