A Visit to the Louvre Museum in Paris
The Louvre Museum

Louvre Museum is one of the museums that I looked forward to visit while in Paris.

Indeed, I was prepared to stand in the queue to get into the museum and all psyched up for the experience.

Why should you visit The Louvre Museum?

Louvre Museum is the world’s largest art museum,  the world’s most visited museum and last but not least, a historic monument in Paris.

Outside the Louvre Museum

It is located on the right bank of the Seine. And this museum is huge and you could literally spend a whole week walking through it and not see everything.

Certainly, the visitors to this museum are never disappointed, but they indeed leave tired.

Inside The Louvre Museum

The Louvre building was first used as a medieval fortress with the aim of protecting the French capital during the reign of Philippe Auguste (1190-1202).  It became a museum in 1793.

This has since housed thousands of works of art from ancient cultures (Oriental, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman) as well as Western and Islamic civilisations. It exhibits extensive collections of sculptures, objects, paintings, drawings, and archaeological findings.

Own Experience from The Louvre Museum

I was in awe every second that I was there because the art inside is exquisite.

Inside The Museum

Apparently, many people come to just see the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and the Venus de Milo, but there are priceless treasures in every room. Just be prepared for a  huge crowd near Mona Lisa which is one of the crème de la crème of this museum.

Ther maps that are provided showing the different parts of the museum are quite easy to follow and this helped us to enjoy our adventure.

Museum Experience

The building is a piece of history in itself and its architecture is quite impressive. Definitely an iconic and a must see while in Paris. Another reason for you to add this to your bucket list!

  • The Louvre  Museum is closed on Tuesdays
  • Give yourself plenty of time because the museum is gigantic.
  • Avoid the queues by purchasing the Paris Museum Pass or get the tickets online
  • Do some research first, then decide what you want to see
  • I would highly recommend  an audio tour
