One of the highlights of our trip to Kenya was going on a safari to Tsavo East National Park.
It is one of the parks in Kenya where there is a big number of herds of elephants in one park.
✦ Why We Choose Tsavo East National Park
Tsavo East National Park is home to the Big 5(buffalo, elephant, lion, rhinoceros, and leopard).
There are also diverse Kenyan wild animals which include the large families of giraffes, gazelles, hartebeests, and zebras. Indeed, this is what takes the majority of tourists to Tsavo East National Park.
For us, the main reason why we chose it, was its close proximity to the North Coast beaches. It is close by other tourist attractions around the Kenyan coast region.
Certainly, Tsavo East National Park is an ideal safari destination for those who would like to combine a beach holiday and a safari.
✦ The Safari Experience
The best way to enjoy the Tsavo National Park is by use of guided tours. The choice on whether eo use a jeep or the van depends on your budget, the timing, and your expectations as a traveler.
Our guided safari tour adventure was an amazing experience. We saw all beautiful wild animals right in front of us and not on the National Geographic Channel.
We saw elephants majestically wandering around with their baby elephants, beautiful imposing giraffes eating leaves, zebras, baboons, monkeys, cranes, wildebeest, gazelles, lions, ostriches, buffalos and many other extraordinary wild animals.
✦ The Importance Of A Good Tour Guide
If you are planning to go on safari a good tour guide should be on the top of the list. This is because is he or she has knowledge and experience, this will make your safari adventure more special.
If the tour guide is great, he will also be determined that you and your loved ones that you have the best of your safari experience.
From the moment you arrive at the gate of the park, the guide will open the top of the van or the jeep so that you can sit or stand comfortably.
One of the top advantages of a guided safari tour is that the tour guides do their utmost best to locate the animals for the travelers. These guides are always in touch by radio monitoring their whereabouts and where they have been spotted in this large park. For instance, our tour guide made sure that once the lions were located, he got us there. We had a chance to see the lions feeding on a gazelle.
Furthermore, it wasn’t just during the organized game drives we saw the animals, it was indeed from the moment we arrived in the park, to the moment we left the Tsavo East National Park at the end of our 3 days safari adventure.
✦ The Stay In Tsavo East Nationa Park
We stayed in Ashnil Aruba Lodge which is situated inside the Tsavo East National Park. The lodge overlooks the Aruba dam. The view from our balcony was excellent with a view of the dam where we saw animals clearly walking by and also drinking water.
Another one for your bucket list.
