✦ The Origin of the Turia Gardens

To begin with, the gardens are on the former riverbed of the famous Turia River.

Historically, Turia River was prone to floods but in n 1957, they were the most devastating. This is because they caused a lot of damage to the city of Valencia. Furthermore, there was also the loss of many lives.

As a result, the city of Valencia decided to divert the course of the river to the outskirts of the city.

Without a doubt, this turned into a success story and the fertile soil of this riverbed gave life to a beautiful garden.
