Are you visiting Kenya just for a few days and you want to experience a safari for a day? Then Lake Nakuru National Park is a park that you can consider.
This park is located in the south of the Nakuru town and it is approximately 165 kilometers from Nairobi.
✦ What to Expect From Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is well known for having a lot of flamingos along the shores.
As per today, the numbers of flamingoes are not as huge as it used to be and the water levels have risen.
Having pointed out that, Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the parks in Kenya that is home to the big five even though it’s small in size. It is ideal for tourists who would like to get close to the endangered rhinos.
There are also other species of birds in this park. Likewise, the warthogs, zebras, and other large mammals like eastern black rhinos and southern white rhinos, can also be spotted.
✦ Own Experience From The Lake Nakuru National Park Safari
We chose a one-day safari in the Lake Nakuru National Park mainly because it isn’t that far from Nairobi.
As our jeep drove into the National Park, we spotted and spied wild animals right and left. The warthogs and zebra were grazing on shorelines of the Lake Nakuru.
We saw the herds of water buffaloes which were grazing with birds perched on their backs to peck and pick out insects. Rhinos were also grazing not far from the lake.
We also saw baboons in several groups, but often we caught them grooming one another or just enjoying mother nature.
The giraffes were trying to reach the high greenish leaves from the trees. You can’t miss out on this experience while in Kenya.
Throughout the game drive in the Lake Nakuru National Park, we were able to see a large number of wildlife and birds. Also, we had the breathtaking natural scenery from the park.
Last but not least, we had the sight of a waterfall in the park. This was the icing on the cake for our trip.
