Maintaining a healthy weight is an important aspect of your health.
Indeed, there are many factors that can affect your weight. These include gender, age, family and lifestyle.
My journey to maintain a healthy weight began at the age of 30. I had noticed that my tummy was no longer as flat. Besides, I struggled with bloating.
This is a journey that one has to make their own decision to achieve the best results. The main reasons being that it requires commitment and discipline.
It’s an undeniable fact that with age comes wisdom. Besides, age comes with a whole package of other things, for instance, the level of confidence. But on the other hand, age comes also with more health risks.

✦ Tips On How To Maintain A Healthy Weight
The following are tips that I have used in my journey to maintain a healthy weight for the last 3 years:
✦ 1. Physical Active
Walking combined with healthy eating is hugely effective for weight loss. I got myself comfortable sports shoes and I made a commitment to myself to be walking more.
Even as small things like taking lifts will help you to be physically active. Also, depending on the weather, always try to take a walk in the park twice a week.
✦ 2. Reducing the amount of alcohol
Drinking alcohol can contribute to adding the intake of calories into your body. They are empty calories and they don’t contribute toward your daily nutrition.
Cutting back on alcohol was one of my healthy way to lose weight. Saying no to my favorite glass of wine or champagne was a big commitment. Like to order some sparkling water while everyone is enjoying their drinks.
✦ 3. Sleep
Not having enough sleep is one of the big risk factors for gaining weight. Thus, ensuring that you have taken care of it, is very important.
Getting a good night’s sleep, every night was also something I made a deliberate decision to make sure that I’m in bed on time. Those late-night movies, I’m no longer into them. Also with age, priorities have also changed.
✦ 4. Drinking-Water
Drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day boost my metabolism, suppresses my appetite, and helps me shed my weight.
Drinking plenty of water is also great for your skin. It flushes out all the impurities which will leave you with a glow and a great complexion. You’ll also notice your skin looking younger and healthier.
✦ 5. More Veggies to Maintain a Healthy Weight
This was the most difficult one for me but with time I have ended up falling in love with the veggies.
Adding veggies into your meal is great because the volume of the meal increases without necessarily increasing the calories. They are also incredibly nutritious and very high in all sorts of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are also the easiest to cook.
✦ 6. Home Cooking
Restaurant meals and prepackaged foods tend to be calorie-heavy and less nutritious. When I cook my meals at home, there are fewer carbohydrates, less sugar, and less fat even if we are not trying to lose weight.
When you cook at home, definitely you eat a more healthy diet. Cooking is also therapeutic. It has become one of my hobbies.
✦ 7. Control the Calorie Intake
It’s very important to choose food that has fewer calories and a lot of nutrients. For instance, when doing your shopping, read the labels and choose the food that is the best for your health.
✦ 8. Eat Healthy Snacks
It is very important to eat a snack between meals. This will help you to boost your metabolism and to maintain a healthy weight.

The main factors contributing to lifestyle diseases include bad food habits and physical inactivity. It’s about choices we make in life but remember, health is the greatest wealth!
